IN BRIEF* We began serving our community in 1956 as a private care facility for mentally retarded children; * We were incorporated under a Volunteer, Community Board of Directors in 1966; * We were ‘Listed’ as a Schedule II Facility under the Province’s Developmental Services Act (1974), until Apr.1, 1999; * We are now one of the Ministry of Community Social Services (M.C.S.S.) Central-West Region Developmental Services Transfer Payment Agencies; * We hold both ‘non profit’ and ‘charitable’ status; * We receive ~ $10 million in annualized subsidy from M.C.S.S.; * Today we are a multi-site, multi-faceted organization providing residential care and day programming for developmentally challenged individuals with physical & emotional impairments; offering outreach services to individuals, families and agencies in Waterloo Region; and managing M.C.S.S.’s Making Services Work for People's Single Point Access Model for developmental services in Waterloo Region. * We are a founding member of the Great Lakes Society for Developmental Services of Ontario; a patron of the Ontario Association on Developmental Disabilities; and an associate member of the Ontario Hospital Association.
